Hi, my name is Sarah Longpre. I am the owner of Saskatoon Pole & Dance Studio. I am a business owner, and an instructor. I am a mom to two beautiful babies; and step mom to my darling step daughter. I wear many hats but I've spent most of my life sharing my love of dance. Having struggled with anxiety and depression since my teenage years, I found solace in dance, which became my outlet and passion. I've always been driven to encourage others to discover their own forms of movement—whether through dance, pole, or aerial arts—that helps foster community and self-expression. At Saskatoon Pole and Dance Studio we celebrate diversity and support each individual’s journey, providing a nurturing environment where you can move freely and connect with others. Saskatoon Pole & Dance Studio is a vibrant and inclusive space where adults can explore movement through pole, aerials, dance, and fitness.
In today's fast-paced world, women's mental health is an increasingly vital topic of discussion. Many women face unique challenges that can lead to feelings of anxiety and depression. However, one often overlooked remedy lies in the joy of dance. Engaging in dance not only serves as a form of physical exercise but also allows for emotional expression and connection. Studies have shown that dance can significantly reduce symptoms of depression, providing a therapeutic outlet that fosters joy and creativity.
The benefits of dance extend far beyond the physical. When women participate in dance, they engage their minds and bodies in a powerful form of self-expression. This movement creates a sense of freedom, allowing individuals to connect with their emotions and release pent-up stress. Research has demonstrated that dance can stimulate the release of endorphins and serotonin, neurotransmitters known for their mood-boosting effects. In a supportive environment, whether in a class or with friends, women can cultivate a sense of community and belonging, which is essential for emotional well-being.
Moreover, dancing as an adult challenges societal norms that often diminish the value of movement and creativity in later life. By embracing dance, women can reclaim their bodies and express their identities, fostering a sense of empowerment. Whether it's through a structured class or a spontaneous dance party at home, every step taken is a step toward improved mental health. In a world where women are often expected to juggle countless responsibilities, dance offers a beautiful reminder that self-care and joy are essential components of a fulfilling life.
If you're in the Saskatoon area, I invite you to come try a class at Saskatoon Pole and Dance Studio.
I would love to see you there!
